The Sports Injury Therapist’s role is to use their skills to assess the degree and type of injury and establish an appropriate treatment plan. Our goal is to prevent and rehabilitate our clients back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness.

What types of treatments does a Sports Injury Therapist perform?

At Above & Beyond we perform various types of treatments, and will customize a program combining the best treatments geared toward your particular injury. The types of treatments we do include; deep tissue massage, soft tissue massage, joint mobilization, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, TENS, stretching, therapeutic exercises, hot/cold therapy, and supportive taping and bracing to prevent, recognize, manage and rehabilitate injuries related to sport, exercise or recreational activity. The treatment program will vary based on your injury, and will be performed in a private treatment room as well as a gym setting using a variety of athletic and rehabilitation equipment.

How often will I need to attend sports injury therapy?

Most clients are treated two to three times per week. The total duration of your treatment will depend on the severity of your injury. The more committed you are to your recovery (meaning, you regularly attend your S.I.T. sessions), the more likely you are to recover faster. We try to set up permanent appointment times for you to help make scheduling consistent, and we offer morning and evening appointments in order to fit Sports Injury Therapy into your busy schedule.

Can I see a Sports Injury Therapist even if I am not injured?

Yes. The Sports Injury Therapist can assist athletes in minimizing the risk of injury and illness and can design/implement physical conditioning programs and appropriate exercise therapy programs to minimize the adverse effects. In addition, the Sports Injury Therapist can give nutritional advice for before, during and after sports participation.
